The Annual James Hocking Wine Big Year End Tasting and Lunch

We have exclusive use of the Lombard Suite – the best private dining room in the city and now have much more space to relax and savour the food and wine. The tasting will include a full 3-course menu catering for all options including the obligatory Turkey, teas, coffees and mince pies.  Menus will be distributed in November, and you will be able to select your choices. We have run a few events there in the past year and can happily confirm the food is delicious, backed by slick service in a beautiful city centre environment.

But the wine...what about the wine? Well, we’ll lead with Champagne as we always do and show one of the rare grower bottlers we love working with so much. We will then take a closer look at Germany and Alsace (purely as they go so well with Christmas cuisine) – Riesling from J J Prüm or Zind Humbrecht Tokay Pinot Gris anybody? Other whites will be deliciously French and Italian, with of course representation from our beloved California (thinking Failla Keefer Ranch Chardonnay), whilst reds will encompass a cross section of our fine wine range from such lauded regions as Piedmont, Tuscany, Napa, Rhône, Savoie and more. A more detailed list will be put up here and on social media nearer the date, but those of you who know how I operate these events will know that there will be some vinous experiences! To complete, dessert wines and fortifieds are assured. We will show twelve wines in total, including one served blind with prizes awarded.

Everything is included and the price per head is £110, happily capped at last years’ price. We will have exclusive use of the Lombard Suite and plenty of room, so we are now accepting up to 25 places for this event.
